Fall Beauty News

An expert offers the latest makeup trends for the new season...

Posted September 3, 2012

Don’t just revamp your closet for fall. Make over your cosmetic routine as well. Fall fashions call for statement makeup. We spoke with makeup artist Shawna Del Real to get tips on the hottest makeup trends for the season.

 • A deep berry mouth. “Pair your mulberry mouth with bare eyes to look fashion forward,” says Del Real. “Leave the lipliner behind for a daytime look.”

• Winged out eye makeup. “This is fun for an evening out,” she says. “Choose carbon black or gray. Conceal under eyes after removing any fallout to get a clean look.”

• Full, defined eyebrows. “Finally, they’re back,” says Del Real. “Use a powder that is a touch lighter than your own brows for medium to dark hair, and a powder a shade darker for medium to light hair.”

• Gemstone eyes. “Blue is the big color for fall including blue mascara. Don't overdo it though,” Del Real warns. “Pick either colored mascara or a bright shadow, but not both.”

• The naked face. “Fall is not typically the season we see a nude face, but it’s huge this season,” says says. “We're not talking easy, breezy summer clean. We're talking flawless looking skin, polished and freshly powdered, and paired with a nude lip.”

• Bronze or brown smoky eyes. “Pair it with a natural lip and you have an instant fall look.”
