A pop of neon color is fun for sure, but is it really wearable? Umm… Yes! You don’t have to look like a blast from the past or resemble America’s Next Top Model to wear the illuminated trend. We sat down with makeup artist and skincare expert Josephine Fusco to get the inside scoop on how to incorporate neon into your beauty routine without going overboard.
Balance things out.
“Bright colors, especially somewhat neon hues are very hot for lips right now,” says Josephine. To achieve the look, try pairing an eye-popping pout (such as citrus or fuchsia) with nearly nude eyes. If you want to play up your peepers, opt for vibrant shades of violet or pink and downplay your lips with a neutral shade. The key to really perfecting this look is to pick one feature and highlight it.
Have some fun.
“If you’re hoping to go that extra mile, and add some serious pizzazz to your party girl style, a black light pigment makeup can be applied to your eyes or face and will only glow under ultra violet light.” This is a fun idea for those times when you want to really amp things up for a night out.
Own it.
Last but not least, own your look. Exude confidence. Work it, girl! Because even if you don’t feel totally comfortable with the whole neon makeup thing yet, it’s a trend worth trying.
