It’s not fall without pumpkin lattes, leaves to rake and fabulously cozy sweaters. This fall is no exception. Excitingly, this season, there are even more sweaters to choose from. Spruce up last season’s boring sweater drawer with statement making selections that go just as well with a pair of jeans as they do a mid-length skirt. The right sweater can even add style to your tried and true, comfy yoga pants.
Short
Cropped sweaters joined the league of short styles in outerwear. They look chic when paired with thick maxi skirts or monochromatic pants. Even wear a longer, button down shirt underneath or a contrast, longer tee hanging out, for a more casual vibe.
Long
To complement their short cousins, designers also went super long this season. Thus the sweater dress will enjoy another stunning winter. Some go even longer, hitting below the knee. Wear with leggings or cigarette pants and tall boots. Some mid-length sweaters even look cute worn with midi skirts just barely peaking out from beneath.
Turtleneck
Whether close to the neck or draping like a cowl, the turtleneck sweater presents tons of possibilities and looks amazing this winter with jeans or an asymmetrical skirt and layered under other sweaters or blazers.
Sleeveless or Shoulder Baring
Make an even bolder statement this winter with a counterintuitive hot/cold sweater moment. Bare your shoulders, wear it long on one side and cropped up the other in asymmetrical fashion or even a deep v-neck sweater that reveals your back. Bare your arms in a sleeveless style or feel the chill in a bulky sweater with geometric cutouts.
Ornamental
Christmas tacky sweaters be warned, the new breed of ornamental statement sweater carries bling, jewelry, gilded buttons and glitz. Patterns abound with dry-clean-only hanging jewels. Or try a new fuzzy faux fur sweater.
