Men’s Timeless Spring Outfits

For the warmer months, keep it classic and simple…

Posted May 27, 2015

Guys are not natural shopaholics. Perhaps that’s because their options aren’t as plentiful. They don’t get to choose from dresses and skirts and pants and shorts and jeans and tank tops and sleeveless tops and all the other things that women get to wear. The comedian Amy Schumer has a joke about how men’s wardrobes haven’t changed since they were three; they wear the same outfit throughout life so it’s much easier for them to get ready for a date. For spring, the average guy will need just a few simple items to pull off a variety of looks.

The James Dean: Jeans and a white tee. You know this look. It never goes wrong. A white V- neck or round neck t-shirt, paired with fitted dark denim jeans will never go out of style. It’ll be the year 2545 and I guarantee you, men will still be wearing this classic combination. It’s great for spring and summer (white just feels appropriate for this time of the year), but you can wear it year-round. Get as many white tees as your dresser can handle, but for this look, buy a thicker, higher-quality tee than the kind you wear as an undershirt.

The Casual Sport Guy: Button-up denim shirt, and tan shorts. Remember what I said about what men wear in the future and men’s fashion being evergreen? In the movie Interstellar, men are seen wearing denim button-up shirts about 100 years from now. My date at the movie that night, as it happened, was wearing the exact same shirt. He pointed at it and said, “I’m from the future.” Jokes aside, the denim shirt can be dressed up or down; with khaki/tan non-pleated shorts and slip on sneaks or loafers, it can look both dressy and casual at the same time.

The Hollywood Screenwriter: Colored cotton shirt, t-shirt, dark jeans, hoodie, Converse sneakers. Don’t be afraid of color, men of the world. Grab a shirt the color of the sunset (deep peach or blush, or a burnt orange shade), some medium dark blue jeans, a light hoodie, and throw on a pair of Converse, and you’ve got your California dreamin’ look down. No muss, no fuss.

The best part is that each of these pieces can be mixed and matched with each other, so men, you can not make a mistake.
