Runway style can be very over the top, especially the beauty. Makeup artists create looks that will play well from the catwalk to photographers with madly flashing bulbs. The dramatic elements add to and play with the fashion sent out by the designers. However, these beauty trends trickle down to the non model crowds as well, and some of them can be a bit difficult to pull off. This season, one of the most finicky beauty trends is grabbing some extra attention: the glossy eyelid.
This is not the eye look for perfectionists. Creasing is fairly inevitable and frequent touch ups are required. But, if you’re prepared to change things up a bit, and you don’t mind that it’s not meant to stand the test of time, then why not experiment with the glossies?
Apply your shadow of choice, using it as a primer, across the lid. Use a good amount, making sure it gets well onto the lid and into the crease. Next, apply the gloss either a specialty eye gloss or even Vaseline or unscented clear lip gloss. Blink repeatedly to distribute the gloss over the lid. The gloss will mix with the shadow to create a sexy but messy look.
If gloss gets too goopy but you still want the wet look, use strategically placed glitter makeup, patted in the center of the lid plus inner and outer corners. The look isn’t exactly the same but it does provide a light-bouncing effect.
