Shoppers—we have a New Year’s gift for you! In the interest of keeping you all “fashion wise” in the year ahead, we’ve put together some extra sartorial savvy for you. (You’re welcome.)
OK, ready? Think bold prints, soft camouflages, metallic basics, color blocking, and the most important hue for spring: tangerine.
We acknowledge that orange is not a flattering shade for everyone, but that just means you’ll have to use it wisely. Pick mango-hued wardrobe accents, like a scarf, bracelet or heck, even an iPhone case.
When it comes to camo, use it as a neutral—accessorize with it, and wear it with colors and other patterns (but go lightly on the latter).
When it comes to the bold patterns, best to approach with caution, since if in a larger size it can end up looking like a tablecloth. Pick base colors that flatter your skin tone, and fabrics that drape well on your frame. Or go for a mix-and-match approach, like black leggings and black boots or heels, with a print top, to keep the look in check.
Los Angeles stylist, Adam Drawas notes that high quality materials, and a rich color palette, are the fashion go-tos for the coming seasons. “As far as colors go, interesting uses of yellow and royal blues are huge for the coming seasons, as well as the continued Americana trend, preppy-type styling, still reigns supreme,” he said.
Some words of caution here: avoid too many colors at once. You don’t want to look like a bag of Skittles or an old hippie. Also, keep an eye out for cropped and tailored anorak-style jackets, which add a bit of coverup cool to your look.
That’s it! Now, armed with this amazingness, go forth and outfit yourselves for the coming year!
