Open Hearts Foundation

The Open Hearts Foundation uses the Open Hearts symbol to enrich the lives of children...

Posted February 7, 2012

“If your heart is open, love will always find a way in.” To this day, Jane Seymour remembers these inspirational words from her mother and strives to overcome any personal loss by giving to others. Seymour calls it “strength in the face of tragedy” and it has inspired her Open Hearts jewelry collection, designed exclusively for Kay Jewelers, and also the non-profit Open Hearts Foundation.

The Open Hearts Foundation uses the Open Hearts symbol along with the generosity and kindness of its honorees and contributors to enrich the lives of children. The Foundation donates to worthwhile health, arts, sports and educational causes while recognizing outstanding individuals that exemplify the Foundation’s philosophy with their own stories of giving and charity.

The Foundation’s concept became clear to Seymour, as she created her heartfelt paintings that would inspire the Kay Jewelers collection. The hearts she painted were open and yet connected to one another, flowing one into the other, sharing and continuous. Seymour feels a heart can never be broken if it is also open to others.

Seymour is joined in the Open Hearts Foundation by an illustrious board of directors, including her husband, award winning director, producer and writer James Keach and Andrew K. Benton, president and chief executive officer, Pepperdine University; George Jones, chairman and chief executive officer, Caravan Entertainment; Richard N. Gold, president, R.N. Gold & Company; Robert D. Trabucco, executive vice president and chief financial officer, Sterling Jewelers Inc.; and James Palmer, owner, Malibu Vineyards.

“Living with an Open Heart allows you to overcome adversity and create something positive in your life,” says Seymour. “This philosophy, which reflected my mother’s advice, has inspired me to live my life with an Open Heart. I am truly humbled that so many people have found comfort and inspiration in my Open Heart symbol and philosophy.”
