$8,700 TO BE AWARDED TO LOCAL SCHOOLS

Heath, Ohio (August 17, 2009) – Indian Mound Mall officials announced today that for the fifth year in a row, the mall will award money to local area schools this fall through their “Earning for Learning” program.  Indian Mound Mall drives its commitment to children’s education through Earning for Learning, formerly known as Tools for Your School, a partnership program designed to promote and support education in local school districts.  Earning for Learning encourages local residents to shop at Indian Mound Mall over an eight-week promotional period to earn “points,” and ultimately the chance to win cash prizes, for the school of their choice.

“Last year we gave out $7,500, so we are very proud to support our Licking County schools and give out even more money this year,” says Dustin Christensen, General Manager for Indian Mound Mall.  “We’ve had parents coming in the past few weeks asking when the program starts, so it makes it even more rewarding to know that are so many individuals in our community striving to make a difference in the school systems and their participation in this program proves just that.”

The program runs August 17th through September 28th and each dollar that customers spend can be turned into points for the school of their choice. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are identified as “Double-Point Days” and receipts from those select days earn the school double points.  Triple points are awarded for purchasing an Indian Mound Mall Gift Card!

Shoppers simply redeem their receipts for points at the Mall Office Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and at the Gift Card Center on Saturday’s from 10 am to 6 pm, located next to Sbarro’s in the Food Court.

Indian Mound Mall will keep an updated results poster in the Food Court with a running total of each school’s points. At the end of the contest, the top three schools will be awarded cash prizes of $3,500.00, $2,500.00, and $1,500.00 respectively. Shoppers have until September 29, 2008 to turn in their receipts at Indian Mound Mall.

A new element in 2009 is that every week a weekly prize of $200 will be awarded to the top school in number of points. For the purpose of this contest, a “week” will be considered Tuesday-Monday, except for week #1, which will be from Monday, August 17th – Monday August, 24. Winners will be chosen each Wednesday, so receipts for each week must be turned in no later than Tuesday. A total of $1,200 will be awarded for the weekly prizes, and schools can win multiple weeks, as well as win the overall prize, giving one school the ability to win $4,700 in 2009, by winning each weekly prize and the $3,500 overall 1st prize.

For both the weekly winners and overall winners, the number of points a school earns is divided by that school’s enrollment. That way it is an even playing field and a small school can compete with large schools with larger enrollments.

At the end of the contest, winning schools will be contacted for notification of their prizes and photo opportunity. The winning schools will be notified by September 30, 2009.

Last year, over 45,000 points were totaled for the Licking County area schools.  Blessed Sacrament was last years grand prize winner and was awarded $3,500.00.  Liberty Middle School won 2nd place and $2,500. Hebron Elementary won 3rd place and $1,500.

Every school in the Licking County area is eligible to participate in the contest and is not required to sign-up.  Indian Mound Mall encourages residents to show their school spirit by participating in the Earning for Learning program and turn their shopping dollars into money for local schools.
